Form your trucking LLC and get your business set up correctly.

LLC Formation: common questions

Should an owner-operator form an LLC?

Many owner-operators form an LLC to separate business and personal finances. You register the LLC with your state's Secretary of State, get an EIN from the IRS, then set up your USDOT number, authority, insurance and bank account in the LLC's name.

Does forming an LLC replace my insurance?

No. An LLC can help separate business and personal assets, but it does not replace the liability and cargo insurance FMCSA, brokers and shippers require.
