Core Authority & Compliance

BOC-3 Filing

Designate process agents in every state with a BOC-3 filing.

BOC-3 Filing: common questions

What is a BOC-3 filing?

The BOC-3 designates a process agent in each state where you operate, who can accept legal documents on your behalf. FMCSA requires it for carriers, brokers and freight forwarders with operating authority, and it must be filed by the process agent (usually a blanket company), not by you.

Do I need to renew my BOC-3?

No. A BOC-3 stays on file until it is changed or cancelled. You only file a new one if you change process agents or your authority is revoked and reinstated.
